I am purchasing a 100 year-old, 2 story farm house. The basement is lacking in space and is somewhat damp due to some dirt floor areas. Also, about 1/2 of the area under the house is crawlspace.
I want to have the house (45′ x 45′ footprint) jacked up and excavate/pour a proper basement.
Structurally, the framing is in great shape and seems to be a good candidate for raising. How much does something like that cost? How high would the house have to be raised?
Assume that I can handle all plumbing and electrical reconnection issues.

Try giving more specific info - Like your area, the size of the house, accessability, etc.
That might help get you some more useful answers. But they're still only wild guesses until someone comes out and actually looks at the thing and offers you an estimate.
If you want a wild guess, I'd surprised to see it come in at less than $30,000. And it could only go up from there, depending on the actual situation......
Are ya sure you wouldn't prefer to add on a room or two?
