Any fool proof way of keeping rodents out of tool sheds?
Cant use poision as dont want the dog finding a dead rodent .
I’d be there forever if I used traps.
Looking for something I can do to get rid of the buggers in there now, and keep them from coming back.

Block them from getting inside. Is this a dirt floor? If so, maybe you better get some big pet snakes to hang out in there.
WHat are they doing? Borrowing your tools and not bringing them back?
The rodents were burrowing his tools.
I'd imagine they could be chewing cords etc.
More info might help.
Does the shed have power? If so, get an electric rodent scarin' machine.
What's the floor and walls?
What climate? Please fill in your profile.

"If so, get an electric rodent scarin' machine."If you mean one of those 'sound boxes' that'll keep them away. For a few days. Then they'll get used to the sound and come back.If you mean some crazy robot fire-shooting rodent killer, I'd like to know about that!As for mice in our garage, the ONLY thing I could get to work were the sticky traps and replace them once a month or so. It's a mean way to get rid of them, but the ones around here are just too damn smart for the other traps.
You should post this in the tavern ;)
The conservatives will tell you to get a 10ga shot gun and convince them to leave that way while the liberals will tell you to sit down and try to work things out with them.
What type of shed is it and how are they getting in?
I have a buddy that has essentially a closed in pole barn, who had a problem with possums and mice. After he had all the obvious holes closed off he dug down around the perimeter about a foot or so down and placed metal from the bottom of the trench up about a foot... I don't want meet the critter that can chew threw metal. The week link was around the sliding door and he just dug down and installed a piece just below grade.
Seems to have mostly worked for him.
I used to have the same problem
A "rodent scaring machine" actually seems to work for me. Or, perhaps I was just lucky.
There were also a few things that seemed to make the place 'mouse friendly." Eliminating two of them may have also helped.
First, no more food to attract them. No coffee, coffemaker, etc.
Then I all but eliminated heating the place. If the joint compound freezes, oh well!
Finally, I left the insulation in place, even though the mice seemed to simply love the stuff. I have been gradually closing the stuff in. Someday I will get around to replacing this "ultimate mouse nest" with some foam.
There is another post on this forum pertaining to rodents, my answer is the same, get a pro. they will tell you what the probs. are and what you can do that will not hurt pets. This is not my expertize, but I've been there. Lots of luck.

I have 2 sheds. 1 is prefab metal panels and roof sitting on wood subfloor raised off the ground on block piers. I filled every nook and cranny. Then I found the ba$tards getting in the track for the sliding door.
The other shed is a post and beam structure with board and batton siding. Sitting on aluminum skinned sips. (bros company was tossing some out).
Neither structure is heated, or contains food. Just building supplies, and tools. Lifted a box of cultured stone and had 9 little ba$tards come running out. They chewed through the insulation, card board, wood, anything soft. Even nested in the rolls of coil stock.
I live in the country in upstate NY. 4 acres in the middle of the woods, so I have lots of animals around. Just dont want them residing in my sheds.
Was hoping to find something I could spray / spread around that would deter their return.
One answer would be a few barn cats. I'm not a cat fan, but we have one now, and it likes to hunt. I will likely add a few more when we get our pole barn up.
Every year we get a small plague of mice getting into the feed shed.
I have about 6 traps. we set them every night, clear them in the morning and re-set.
After a few weeks we seem to have wiped out the ones doing the damage. ( bout 30 a year )
After that, none.
Seems that once those mice are gone, the others dont come round.
