   If you don't find the the exact answers to your questions there, then post a more specific question and you will probably get the answers you need. Your current question is very general and probably will receive answers like "Read a good book on roof framing".

   *Get a copy of the Roof Framers Bible. It discuses such a roof, gives you the formulas to work with etc. It's inexpensive and you get a wealth of information.

   *Jeff,Your roof framing problem is not unusual. Many of us who cut "split-pitch" roofs run into this on a regular basis, both with valley, and hip rafters.I'll be glad to help you out if you'll provide some additional information, such as:1) what are the two roof pitches involved?2) What is the overhang, and, is it required that the overhang remains equal around the perimeter of the structure, or will you let the valley rafter run to the ( inside ) corner of the intersection of the plates, resulting in unequal overhangs? ( the steeper pitch will have less overhang )3) what layout for the rafters are you using? 16" O.C.? 24" O.C.? Other?4) Is it a 90 degree corner? If not, other?Any other information would be helpful.

   Hi. Anyone have a suggestion concerning tricky roof framing? I have a job that will where the valley rafter will not be 45 degrees to the ridge. This will result in unequal pitches on either side of the valley.
