What does it feel like?  Is it pliable or rigid?

It appears to be a metal slate look roof.  The picture was kind of fuzzy, maybe someone else is more familiar.

    Not really.

Looks like a plastic of some sort - what's it feel like?

Pretty sure it's fake tile made from metal as frammer says.

      Thanks all,

Sorry about the bad picture, I had to take if from the car.  The owners are never home, so no way to get the info from them...

I was looking into alternatives to ashpalt shingles.  This roof looks great.  Seemed like a pain to install, but would last a while.

      Thanks again.

They actually install fairly fast once you get the hang of it.
Each one is 48" or so, snaps into the previously laid one below it, and snug up then nail in the flange at top.Does require a good strong base sheet like shakes or slate.

Just like most roofs  -- the field is easy , but the Devil is always lurking !!

Flashing is flashing. Same need for same house whether this, that or some other shingle.

It looks like the aluminum ones I installed on a couple "Pizza Hut" restaurants.

I am color blind. they all look the same to me.

  8. DanH | Jul 23, 2008 12:26am | #19

I agree, it looks like metal. Hopefully steel and not aluminum.

There are also several varieties of plastic and plastic-composite shingles that might have the same appearance, but the ripple texturing looks most like metal.
