I’m re-roofing with Owens-Corning pro40 shingles. What weight felt should I use? Thanks

You don't use felt if your re-roofing. Re-roofing around here means putting another roof on top of one layer of an existing roof.
Do you mean your ripping you existing roof off down to the sheathing and putting a new roof on top of the shething?
Yes, I'm removing the old and starting over
You can use either #15 or #30, but I'd suggest you consider "Rooftop Gard," Tri-flex, or any one of the newer roofing underlayment membranes; they're tougher, they lay flat and the left-overs make good tarps and kite material. And, a 30# roll covers 10 squares (1000 sq. ft.).
Agreed. "Titanium UDF" is another product - I used it and loved it.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

The new materials are definitely the wayu to go. Did you screw yours down?

Screw down shingles!?!
Naaaa. That's what 2 part epoxy is for!
Another benifit of new material - no tar runoff onto nicely painted surfaces if it rains.

You know I just used tri-flex and I have to be honest, I didn't quite see the benfits?
It was lighter, but its a pain if its windy, it doesn't lay tight and flat like felt (no matter what we tried it kept a rippled look), the ends curl on the roof edges, if a nail head was missed in the decking it took nothing to rip it open and the worse was if its at all wet!! My gosh did I ever go for a couple slides one day!!!
Maybe I got a bad batch or something???-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I can tell you the Titanium UDL did not do that for me. Laid flat, no wrinkles, not slippery in heavy dew or rain (only 4:12 roof though).Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

Not my experience at all....
I've used the roof Gard stuff and the Tri-flex....about the only diff is the color. We could walk on a 6/12....as long as it was nailed off.
Rooftopgaurd is what I use. no problemo

I bet I received a crapy batch or something knowing my luck.

Hmmm...Every place I've worked yet, a re-roof is any new roof on an old building.

"Every place I've worked yet, a re-roof is any new roof on an old building."Do you mean ripping off the shingles on an old building down to the sheathing and then installing a new roof?We call that a rip off and new roof. What do you call it when you put a new roof over an old roof?We used to be able to go with three roofs but not any more. Your only allowd two layers here.Joe Carola

Call both a re-roof - generic term.
Sometimes the re-roof requires a "tear-off" and sometimes it gets an "overlay", but for me, it's always been a re-roof. First heard it when i started roofing in Florida in 1970 where every single roof was always torn down to the sheathing."Go here and re-roof the rach house at XXX"
"Go there and put a new roof on the XXX in the YYY subdivision"In texas, it was;
"We're gonna re-roof that church by tearing off the old cedars and putting on Timberlines"
or
"Go re-roof that ranch house at XXX with a timberline overlay"If I moved to Jersy to work for you and you told me to re-roof the garrison house across the street, I would ask if you wanted it to be a tear-off or an overlay - at least until I learned your local idioms. Then I'd speak your lingo.

You sure you don't want a wife free trip to Cancun?Mine goes with to Alaska
She is also getting another run at Ireland, without me!
I'll have to keep this wife free idea in mind...;)

The reason I didn't go to Italy is I won't fly anymore. Plus, I didn't give a rat's asss about Positono or whatever. I figure if I explore everything that needs exploring in this country (except Hawaii), Canada, and Mexico (hell, you can drive to Belize and I've got some contacts there), I'll be 743 years old when I finish. I was going to Burning Man with one of my competitors the year before last, but he got engaged and the wife to be talked him out of going at the last minute. He hadn't missed one in 7-8 years and had been talking me into it for 5. Only reason I get to go to TIPIFEST is the lovely Mrs. CU wants to go to NYC . We're combining the two.To the original poster: sorry 'bout the hijack. The tangent takes over sometimes.Birth, school, work, death.....................http://grantlogan.net/

Got it, thanks.
Alaska is #1 on my list at this point, to visit...not live. Although the late Rich Proenneke sure made it look cool.
