I just found some large sheets of sandstone at a building materials recycling place that was just gorgeous, and I am currently having a rather heated argument with my hubby…. I figure that you guys will be able to settle the argument.
Can sandstone be used as the wall surface in a shower cubicle? Or is it too porous? Would we need to seal it? How much would sealing it affect the patina? Would we need to seal it more than upon installation? (‘Cause I’ll admit, it probably would not get taken care of properly if it were more often than an annual task) Could it be used as flooring in a shower?
Any hints would be appreciated!

You might try posting your query here instead: http://www.johnbridge.com
It is a tile forum.
I worked at a resort that used sandstone for pool decking and the very edge of the pool. It's all slowly melting away. A tile friend of mine says there are different hardnesses for sandstone. I wouldn't use it in a shower.
I doubt very much that you will get positive feedback on using sandstone for the shower. However, John Bridge forums are the place to go for that type of query.
I love stone..but would not consider it myself.
Thank you, I have cross-posted to John Bridge forums!
