Installing “Pietra Serena” sandstone tiles using the wet-set method (pounding them into a floor mix with a splash of neat on top). The tiles vary in size from 12″x24″ to 36″x36″ all are approx 3/4″ thick.
Two strange things:
First I found that as I’m pounding them into the wetbed, I could bend the corners enough that they would spring back and pullaway from the mortar when I released pressure. Easy enough to deal with once you realize its happening
Secondly, though, I found that the larger units would cup, as much as 1/8″, once set.
I have seen this with green and black marble, but never heard of sandstone doing this.
Do I need new glasses?
Thanx
