I got a tuffie, I need to strip and refinish a 4’x7′ window above a circ/spiral stair case. The outside wall is round, 2nd floor is not level with the window sill, its higher by about a foot.
I have a few ladder options, none I like, a gorilla type and lil giant type, I have ladder jacks, I have scaffold…nothing feels like it’s gonna jump out at me and say ” Aha, this is IT!”
I know a plasterer that cobbles up 2×4’s with piffen screws and sets alum walk boards on that, on winder stairs, but this is a 3′ wide 180* Stan Case..LOL
I got 12′ from tread to head of window one side and 15′ on the other.
Anyone got a good idea?

Personal jet pack.
They were promised in the 50s and 60s. Someone somewhere should have one.
Howsabout a set of drywall stilts.
Course I'm not offering any solutions about how you get back off of those on a winding staircase :)

If you can't use off the shelf stuff (ladders, jacks, planks, stilts, etc.) I think I'd spend the time and put together some site-made 2x4 stuff so that you'll be safe and secure for the duration of the job.
Thats where I am leaning towards, just cobble up a custome one time use monkey cage and have at it, it ain't a 5 minute job, it'll be about 2-3 days up there, and refurb the sash that will be taken out and reinstalled.
I noticed the balustrade had a stripped area ( I also am doing that to the rest) and I asked teh HO about it..she said " oh that, thats where a painter was working up there near that window, off a ladder, and he fell off and the ladder came crashing down on the railing" That made me feel just peachy, working over another guys splat spot..LOLSpheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Pump jacks? They would require less material than a lot of rigs would...Always keep in mind the Terra Firma Rule: the more Firmer, the less Terror. And hey, have ya paid yer Gravity Bill recently?Aitchkay
It did cross my mind, but the lath and plaster would be very unhappy with the braces screwed to it.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Oh, yeah, the braces -- forgot about them. But come to think of it, you could rig your own lightly-press-fit, wall-to-wall braces, with plywood or even plywood plus carpet-scrap pads. I'm seeing one horizontal 2x4 brace parallel to your plank, attached to both poles, and two other horizontal braces, one attached to each pole. Throw in a cross brace or two, and you'd never know you weren't screwed to the wall.Good Luck, Dude!Aitchkay
