Hello all,
I wear expensive progressive glasses that seem to get scratched up in no time on the job site.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
Are there clear, protective covers I can get somewhere?
Thanks,
Mike

My last pair of progressive, transition glasses with stainless frames and scratch resistant coating cost $90.00 delivered to my door. My local optical shop wants $70.00 just for the coating.
My last pair were almost $400. from For Eyes. How did you manage that?
See the link I posted. Zenni Optical. Same glasses, online prices. I tried a basic pair first, which I still wear to work, then got the more expensive ones. Of course $90.00 isn't expensive at all. The local optician wanted $470.00 for new glasses. I'll get them from Zenni for about $100.00.
I've gotta look - I'm due for a new pair

Try them, I think you'll be happy. It does take some work but the savings are worth it. I got most of the required measurements from my old glasses.
I agree. Zenni Optical is a great place to get your glasses. Very affordable and quick service.
Your glass provider should have offered you the scratch proof version, at an additional cost option. Maybe scratch resistant, but mine work great, very tough lenses. It's their fault.........
How are they getting scratched?
The way you clean them? What you are cleaning them with?
On my third year with the same lenses and no scratches
We do every thing from roofing to finished wallboard
Never clean them dry
Never use paper products of any kind to clean them
Don't use you fingers to wipe them
Never lay them down with the lenses down
Even uncoated lenses should last along time if cleaned and handled with some care
Are they plastic or glass lenses?
Follow Huntdoctor's rules:
If they seem blurry, find a place to first thoroughly wash your hands, then rinse your glasses (both sides) with running water. After that, soap up again, and lightly wash your lenses.
I loved glass lenses; they were so much more scratch-resistant. But they're just not for us working guys. Buy plastic, and never wipe 'em on your T-shirt.

And don't stuff your glasses in the same pocket where you just put that piece of sandpaper.
My uncle, who was a painter, always cleaned his glasses with lemon pledge.
I buy Zeiss Lens cloths at Sams club. They are little packets with a cleaning cloth and some kind of solution on them for a quick clean after work. They have a similar product at Walgreens. You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.
