Sealed Propane H2o Heaters in basement?
My wife and I are in the early planning stages for our log home in Alaska. We plan on using LP(propane)as the fuel for our space heating (radiant floor)and for our cooking. Is it okay to install the water heater in a conditioned utility basement? It will be a sealed combustion unit with power direct-vent. I was told by someone that you can’t put a propane water heater in a basement due to the pooling of propane vapors. If the connections are sound and there are no other combustible/ignitable sources in the utility basement, should there still be a problem? Anyone have any thoughts on this?
