Sealing/detailing Ductwork boots prior to installing registers

There is a lot of focus on sealing ductwork but very little about the terminations.
Question: what is the best way to seal the termination of supply/return boots to the living space prior to installing registers?
- Do you just use foil tape from the inside of the boot to the drywall ceiling / flooring material?
- What other details/methods if any?
