I have a 75 year old house which I believe is block construction sheathed in a brick face. The interior of the walls are plaster directly on the block.
My problem is this. In two rooms moisture seems to have migrated through the exterior and caused damage to the plaster walls. Does anyone know of a way to seal the brick exterior to try and minimize this water migration? I have heard some rumors about some type of silicone that can be applied to the outside. Does anyone know anything about this or any other technique that might help?
Thanks

*What you want is a product called siloxane. It seals out water drops, but it lets wator vapor escape. This will avoid spalling from any water that would be trapped behind a standard sealer or paint product. There are a variety of manufacturers, and you may wish to check a local masonry products supplier for the brand(s) they carry.
