There’s a lot of brands of self adhesive window flashings out there. I see alot of them peeling off the building not lang after they are applied. Anyone have a recommendation for a brand that seems to stick better than others, or a recommendation of brands to avoid? Does anyone know of a brand that has a split backing?

I had the same problem with grace so I would put a few staples in it to keep it in place.then I tried moiststop and man does it ever stick, I tried to pull some of it off a window flange and I could not.I love peal and stick flasings
Moist-Stop and make sure the window flange and sheating are clean. They tend not to last very long when exposed to uv.

What kind of flashing are you talking about? You mean the Z flashing at the top of the window?
Moist stop is very good , The local HD around here even sells a knock off abbout half price, but it is not as sticky in the cold or damp
but the best I have used, and it is spendy, is the foil backed butyl stuff we use on sunrooms and other high wind high moisture areas.
YOu can install it as just a peal an stick. or stick it and run a hot iron around it and it melts the butyl to the surface
otherwise mosit stop is the ticket. and yes if it is not going to get covered up fast , it will break down in the sunlight.

Do you have a brand name and source?

We have been using the Polyken 3" wide stuff.
Like I said it is spendy but is the best I know for extreme conditions.
We dont use it a lot except on sunrooms and other areas of high glazing into the environement
last shipment we had ran about $18 a roll for 3"x50'
But I am actually looking for a new source.
Found it from Tyco adhesives ( tycoadhesives.com) and have contacted theri local dealer but havent got a price yet from thier local rep
another source might beC.R Laurence company but I did not find it in ther catalog, but they have about everything related to flashings, glass, etc
If I find out more Ill let you know
Dont know what happened to my reply
stuff we used was polyken. 3"x50' roll about 19 bucks. now jumped to 30 a roll. I buy it by the case and still have some of the old 19 a roll stuff. Need to find a new supplier for it though, last supplier became unreliable
supposedly available from Tyco Adhesives and have contacted their rep and waiting for reply.
used to be avilable form CR Laurence. but has been replaced by a non foil backed version in 6" x100 feet
both sources availbel on the web
Thanks. It always helps to know how to get the good stuff.

What helped with ours was to first spray an adhesive around the surrounding area. It was a while ago but I'm pretty sure we used a spray from Henry that is intended for this purpose. We used the Polyken peel & stick 12" wide. Pretty expensive but worked great. Used their foil faced product on the sides of the home exposed to U.V. and their regular for the rest of the home. It says on their instructions if it is going to be exposed to UV for an X amount of time you need the foil faced. Three years later I have a few unfinished windows with the Polyken still exposed and the Polyken is holding on well (the regular, not on the UV exposed side). All of this ended being a waste because my windows were all defective and leaked anyway. The Polyken did not have a split backing when I last used it.

I use Eternabond which I usually find at my roofing supplier. I think a 6"x50' roll runs $35. It is Butyl backed and sticks to anything and everything, I have tried many cheap types but this stuff rocks.
And to add to you r qusetion... is there one that like to stick to vinyl windows AND
30 lb felt. The stuff around here like everything but felt.
