I have a bow roof cape in NH which currently has laminated wood rafters, with nailed skip lathe, and cedar shingles. The shingles are shot and need to be replaced. We want to sheath the roof and use architectural shingles. Any thoughts on the sheathing thickness, attaching with screws vs. nails, and removing or leaving the lathe? Should the lathe be screwed down? Will 5/8 plywood work? In an older edition of FHB (#119)they had a short curve on which they used a 3/8 plywood with a 1/4 inch plywood over it (staggered), in order to get the curve.
Any other suggestions?

I'd use successive layers of 1/4" plywood, 3/8" if it's a real gentle curve. Make sure you have exterior glue lines.

*And I don't think you'll know whether to leave or remove old skip sheeting until you are up there doing it.
