I would like to pick up a smaller shopvac to use when I am on the road, (smaller than my 32 gallon crapsman) and one that can use a bag to catch drywall/plaster dust without clogging the filter. Quiet would definitely be a plus. Of course I want cheep, and durable, and if it flies and cleans by it self that would be great too…
My needs in order
1) Need it within 1.5 week
2) Want it to have disposable bags (I am tired of shaking out filters)
3) Fairly durable (I am pondering the rigid with lifetime warranty)
4) Transportable Under (under 12 gallons)
Things that I dont care about either way
tool switched power
Any thoughts ?

Several times the Rigid vac has been mentioned here. They make 3 version of it. They is is 4-5 "hp" and 4-5 gal. It is very handy.
BUT IT DOES NOT USE A BAG.
Shop VAC has come out with a similar version, but uses a bag.
But, AFAIK, it is an exclusive with Lowes.

But I am not sure what bags it takes.
But here is a slightly large 12 gal unit.

And Lowes has two styles of plain bags and DW bags.

"Shopvac" make small - 6 and 12 gal - vacuums. At under $50 they are 'disposable' and do indeed have d/w bags. I've had one now for nigh on 5 yrs and it's only just beginning to howl like a banshee.
All the best...
To those who know - this may be obvious. To those who don't - I hope I've helped.
Fein Turbo II with HEPA at Coastal Tool. Start using it and you'll never look back!
oh how I would like one, but the one I am getting is going to be used by 11th graders as well as me, and I would be real upset to have a fein destroyed.... a 60-70 dollar vac, well, that would be ok.

The 10-12 gallon shop-vacs at lowes work all right, for about $60. What else can I say? They're not too ear shatteringly loud, and they work fine until the bag or filter gets plugged up.zak
"so it goes"
11th-graders!
details, details, we need all the details!!!
cheap is good :-)
I teach a young women in science program at rutgers during the summer. It is a 4 week program, and each week I get a different grade and I give them a different problem. Next week the young women have to hit a solo cup that will be 3-5 meters away from their device, behind a wall that is .75m high.
The get wood, rope, surgical tube, nails, eyebolts, screws, and a few carriage bolts. I also bring them jigsaws, drills, drill presses and lots of clamps.
Its a great time, and the young women go from being timid about the powertools to arguing over if it is better to use a forstener or a spade bit... we do make a mess, and my old tiny crapsman vac went to the happy hunting ground.
OK, now there's ALL the details! Good for you - sounds like lots of fun and rewarding as well. My SIL teaches high school science; sounds like you two would relate - making science fun and engaging.
