I am installing sink, vanity, icemaker and would like to know if I can find a higher quality shutoff valve. I find the old style ones prone to corrosion or gasket loss. Is there a ballcock version or a higher quality brand to look for?

Yup, Brass Craft makes them- USA, even!
Others do too- not US made, though. Choose wisely.

How about regular ball valves? You could put a set ahead of the whole room.

1/4 Turn Brasscraft , Like a mini ball valve .
Thanks guys! I also see Legend listed as well. Since these are in areas not seen, would I be nuts to just use orange handle copper valves instead? I guess those are not compression fitting types, no? I soldered these under a kitchen sink some 10 years ago, seem to be ok so far. Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities- Voltaire
I still see people using copper to go from the supply to the dishwasher and icemaker. Would it not be better to use the newer stainless braided supply lines? The thought of kinked copper gives me the willys and its harder to move the appliance for service if needed. Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities- Voltaire
Very few of the braided lines are actually stainless.
Nylon look a like
dont forget to add a water hammer arrester sioux chief makes one you can solder on or you can add one on to the end of the angle stop
Bought that brand and installed already. They seem to work quite well. Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities- Voltaire

When I put in new shutoff valves under the sink for the faucet, dishwasher, and icemaker, made a T off both hot and cold lines so I could have a total of four connections. Each got its own fixture style ball valve. You could use the bigger valves, no reason why not... except you have to worry about always having the space to turn those long handles and don't catch anything on them.
When I moved into this house 1.5 years ago, one of the first things I did was replace all the valves with those ball style.

I do have 4 stub outs for that reason. It really makes sense.
Plumbbill, Those are damn cool arrestors! What is really cool is that if they fail, you can replace them easily. Smart product. Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities- Voltaire
