I can’t believe it! I just bought a ’08 Silerado with regular cab and the seat barely tilts forward. It’s just about impossible to put anything behind the seat without sliding the seat forward too. Even at that there isn’t much room between the seat and the door jamb to get anything in. Then I have to fight the seat back against the spring pressure to get the seat back far enough to get in the truck. In my old ’00 Silverado the seat tilted forward a lot and putting something back there was a breeze. Who designs this
? And for all you guys that are going to write back with “should have bought a (fill in the blank), that ’00 had 189,00 miles on it.

We have test driven a lot of vehicles in the last 2-3 years. Our impression is that this is definitely one place where the manufacturers have been cutting costs.
the decided lack of comfort is also one major reason we have not traded up yet also.

My 'oo has about 195,000, I thought it was just broke in last year. Course, its a FORD. Sorry, couldn't resist.
I think it's supposed to be a safety thing, so the seat doesn't flop forward in a crash.
Should have bought an extended cab.

LOL!
Like when car manufacturers started advertising "child-safe rear windows" that only rolled partway down. Actuality was that the rear wheel arch cut into the rear of the rear doors.
Or that whole thing with New Coke and Classic Coke to hide the switch from cane to corn sweetener.

I'm in Va, but I am not allowed to touch wires, and I have no use for a Kubota with a teensy suburban lot."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson

We need full size trucks to haul around all the cups... can't do it in a ranger series-eh. Always rootin' for an original six.
LOL.....but it's just one cup...(one of my favorite things about the sport).....so a Honda hatchback would work just fine. ; )
I always root for an original sixer as well.

Wings fan here. Yes, original six!
They looked good last night. Still can't get used to them without Shanny and Stevy Y.
Yes, I also miss Shanny and especially Stevy. Report in the Toronto papers day before yesterday that Ken Holland and Stevy (now a vice-president) are headed to the Leafs. They wish! Jimmy D. says it ain't so.....good enough for me. Can't even imagine Stevy anywhere except Detroit.

a lot of scuttlebutt re leafs of late. be interesting how it all washes out. they need a winning streak to quiet the rumors.
OK, here's a Habs hockey rumor. My wife and I have a summer home near Bonavista, Nfld. Last summer someone spoted a red Maserati going down the highway. Everyone figured it could only be Michael Ryder home for the summer. There aren't a whole bunch of Italian sports cars around Bonavista.
I've got an 02 Silverado which has been good vehicle for me. Not quite ready to trade it in but like to kick tires at the Chevy dealership every once in a while. The thing that has suprised me is how few no-frils work trucks they have on the lot. Try to find a basic 1500 4x4 with an 8 foot box. There must have been 75 trucks on the lot and not one fit that description.
You're right about a no frills truck but to top it off I even wanted a two wheel drive. My last three trucks were all two wheel drive and I've never been stuck even though I live 100 miles west of Buffalo and we average 140" of snow a year. I tell everybody that four wheel drive is for people who don't know how to drive-so now even if I get stuck I would have to pay the tow truck drive to keep quiet! I looked at four different lots and not one had a two wheel drive to even test drive. The dealer I bought it from pulled up the inventory of all the dealers within a hundred mile radius and I could have had my choice of twenty trucks in various colors and options. I agreed to buy it with the stipulation that if I honestly hated to drive it I wouldn't have to take it. They went and got it and everything worked out o.k. They certainly want to sell you one that's all tricked out.
Yes, you're right, 4-wheel drive is not absolutely necessary for most purposes. The last two trucks I've owned have been 2-wheel drive and have been OK in the winter. We don't get Buffalo snow but we get our share (50 miles west of Detroit). However, our summer home in Newfoundland is down a grassy lane and I've gotten stuck there in the past. Meanwhile, the plumber and electrian with 4x4s go up and down with no problem. On the other hand, the renovations are now almost complete and I'm no longer hauling tons of debris up the hill and tons of new lumber down. So, a new 4x4 may be shutting the barn door after the horse is gone.
The last two trucks (a 90 GMC and the current 02 Chevy) were both no frills trucks. Both were sticks with standard cabs and standard boxes. The current one has air and an AM-FM radio but that's it. When I get a new one it will probably be an automatic 4x4 with cruise but no further frills. OK, maybe I'm getting soft in my old age. Anyway, GM used to market a truck with just a few basic ammenities as a "work-truck" package. I haven't seen that designation on the sticker recently.
The whole league misses Yzerman.
Lovin' havin' Shanny in NY though! Too bad he's not getting the support he deserves of late.
