Working on another finished basement, with a bar, av room etc… The homeowner wants a soda gun behind the bar. I tried to talk him out of it- he still wants it!!!! I have done many glycol draft beer systems but no soda guns. I kinda get it but does anyone have a experience with soda guns (bag in box syrup system).
Thanks fellas, Lou

I think I know why, but what were your reasons against the gun?
Family.....They're always there when they need you.
They have kids from the ages 4,5,7,8- Not gonna be real clean. One box makes 300 glasses of coke.Plus you'll have 3 other products. They dont entertain much either.
Call resturaunt supply houses in your area. Resturaunt depot may be able to help alltho they are real picky about working with someone in the food service industry. Watch on craigs list & ebay. Let them worry about where to get bag in a box."this dog may be old but he ain't cold. And he still knows how to bury a bone."

Thats what I thought.
Fat kids and very dirty lines.

Does he want just soda --- CO2
Or does he want a gun that shoots water, coke, sprite & tonic, etc.
All kinds of options available. Carbonator compressor, Syrup canisters (best for low volume) or bag/ box.
For a residendial system I would reccomend CO2 bottle and syrup concentrate. Shelf life is 5 times bag in box prouducts.
go on the AVSforums and search for postmix. There are people that have these in thier homes, and its is very cool.
Lots of useful information on Google under "home soda fountain".
Thanks, Are you gunners son?

The CO2 tank and syrup cannister system yeilds better tasting soda, in my opinion, and they don't have the noisy compressor of the bag-in-box systems. No moving parts, so nothing to break.
It's all expensive, IIRC.
IIRC, Sams Club carries the 5 gallon boxes of syrup. $20-70/box?
I've thought that one of those bar setups would be neat where you have a single handle with multiple buttons. But the setups I've seen at auction are usually the restaurant kind. Sometimes they go pretty cheap, but you'd still have to buy the syrup and CO2.

You also really need an ice bin and an aluminum cold plate. Ice bin has to be kept filled with ice. It really is a pain in the butt to do it right... And the kids end up fat. But then, I'm willing to bet that so are the parents. If you want soda gun drinks, buy into a bar and go there.
Yeah, I never could justify the volume of soda it would take to use up those 5 gallon syrup boxes prior to them expiring (diet soda is like what, 3 months? and maybe 8-10 months for regular?).

I have a friend with a soda machine and that is what he says. Unless you are having a big party, a normal family can't use those things before they go bad. He was using premixed. Our tap water sux.

These guys have anything you need.
Wow. One of those units with the multiple buttons costs over $2000!
That's a LOT of store-bought pop (soda).
