Working with a good client on finishing out a loft condo. One of the ideas she has is to use old factory beams for accents. Probabaly not the whole beam, but rersawn boards that would have bolt & nail holes and character. Anyone have a good source for this type of wood?

Subscribe to Fine Homebuilding? See it at the magazine stands? Some sellers of this stuff advertise in FH.
Or, just google for it.

Talk about a non-answer. Got a bee in your shorts? I have subscribed for several years, and (contrary to the post-re-registeration profile mess) I have been an active forum member for quite some time. And I have seen the ads in the magazine. But I have also seen the ads for Ryobi tools. Get the analogy? I was looking for responders with personal experience. Obviously that doesn't include you. Come back when you have something of value to add to the discussion.

San Antoin' is too far to ship, so you could not afford to tap into my stockpile -- Luka has a few times though as the price is right. Have had lots of luck using old pallets, up to ship container size sometimes. Everything from luan, apitong, oak, hickory, even a few old teak pallets, plyboo, lotta wood no idea what it is, etc. Lots of nails <G>. Did get ahold of a few 8 by 16 30 ft D fir beams from old buildings here a couple of times too. Also, resawn old bowling alleys are a great source for maple kitchen counter tops.
Personal experience is PERSEVERENCE and TIME* for the finds. If you need'em tomorrow, be prepared to spend big $$ for those who have taken the time anad have the planers and saws to process.
Also have a couple of 25 ft by 42 dia hardwood logs in the back yard I could let you have as a special favor for shipping costs <G>?
*time = literally decades
You always that rude to somebody trying to help you get leads?remind me not to care next time

Oh come on Paul. If you read his response, he wasn't offering any assistance, other than to say there are advertisements in the magazine. Hell, I know that. And I've been here long enough that most people have learned my style, which is that I am very tolerant of everyone, rookies and DIY's included. But his response was sarcasic at best.
Ok, I'm having a bad week or two. Really stressed. Short fuse. Maybe I took his response wrong. Maybe not. But that's as far as it will go ... I certainly won't sinnk to the nastyness of the spat that's going on in the "Idiot" thread.
Love and kisses ...

I didn't read his response as sarcastic or negative. half the others here have no personal experience report either, looking like tjhey just did your homework for you and googled up some links without comment.Notice I did nearly the same, but not entirely out of ignorance. I diod do some business about twwelve years ago with an out fit down south marketing new logs and old beams, but llong ago enough that I don't remember the name or know if they are still good or even in business, but that is where I found them.Close questioning over the phonme gives me a good idea whether an outfit is professional of full of balony
