I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen (painting cabinets, new HW floor, counterops) and am trying to find a source for a wood countertop for my center island. Butchers block seems readily available, but what if I wanted teak or mahogany?
It seems like a cabinetmaker/carpenter would be my best shot. I am in Bucks county PA, does anyone have a suggestion of who may provide this (carpenter, cabinet maker, other?), or of local craftsman as well?
Many thanks.

Try asking your question on the Knots forum--that's where the woodworkers are; they should be able to give you a source.
you might want to post this over at breaktime/fine homebuilding and ask for Jeff Buck, he's in your neck of the woods and may be able to help...BUIC
You may already be aware of this source for maple tops: http://www.mapleblock.com/. They can point you to their local dealers. When asked for countertops of other species, I build them myself. It's probably the same in PA - you'll likely have to get a maker to custom build one for you.
