Space required for double bathroom sink?
My blueprints give me 5′ for a sink area in the master bathroom. I had been planning on installing a double sink here (even tho plans show 1) but my father was just told by his plumber on his house that 6′ is required for a double sink. I tried looking up the IRC but couldn’t find anything in code about this. Is his plumber nuts or is there a reason for this?

60 inch is real tight if between walls but do able. Try to even up the spaces between walls and sinks. What materials will you be using?
We do 60" all the time on 24"-12"-24" cabinets. Of course 72" is better. I think the smallest double we ever did was 58". We usually use man made marble tops. Local fabricator custom makes them for us.
Good luck,

On my last one I used 80" for a double and felt that any less would be too tight.

Just remember that size doesn't matter, bigger isn't always better, and it's how you use it........or that's what I keep telling myself anyway..........John

Double bowl cultured marble top 60" long. Served two teenage girls quite well.
