Lucky me, I just got back from the weekend at the International HB show in Orlando. Bad news (I think) when I got back my MIL had hired a painter to reseal her stone floors in her home. Mexican tiles, sealed a dozen years ago and needed to be done. Question, the person used BM Exterior Spar Varnish. Label says wood and metal, job looks bad (MIL still out of town and has not seen it) and I don’t think that she is going to be happy. Any thoughts out there? I will probably end up redoing it and would like some input.

GRCourter,
Luckliy the spar varnish won't last long on that stone.. I have a timberframe with Black walnut timbers on the outside and stone infills between. when I used spar varnish I spilt some on some of the stone here and there.. luckily most of it was off inside a year so I didn't have to get back up there and strip it off.
That is good news. Now what should be used on the stone?

Masonary stores sell a product to seal stones.. usually it requires acid washing prior to use. I'd be reluctant to deviate from that.
Thanks much, will look for a product
