I need info on two different split system heat pump/AC units, the Mitsubishi and the Sanyo mini-split. I’ve got the specs, what I would like is your experience in terms of reliability and performance.
The Mitsubishi is the favorite of the HVAC contractor, but the client would like something with aux or boost heat as this is in a cold climate and the room has outside walls on three sides, floor, and ceiling, and single pane windows.
The room is about 550 SF, and is down a hallway fom the main house which has a heat pump and an electric furnace. Contractor is recommending a two-ton unit.
Thanks in advance.

I've been dealing with ductless / mini splits for over 10yrs... and i've yet to see a difference in brands... i'd bet 90% come out of the same factory... i get most of mine off ebay... no name that you'd know... I think the name is just a sticker... if it's an issue I'd go for the unit with the heat strip...

I've got a Mitsu unit that has been running for 4.5? years 24/7 straight (server room) w/o a single problem. I don't know if there is truly a difference in the units, but the Mitsubishis have been in the States longer than most any other mini-split and you should be able to get service easily for them.

Thanks much for the info.
Client went with a Sanyo/Pace 2 ton unit, as it's the only one the local HVAC contractor could find with heat strips.
Cheers,
