spring clamps for trim work

Had the pleasure of working with a old-timer who had a set of C -shaped clamps with very pointed ends that uses a plier type of tool to open and set on corners for trim work. Best things I ever saw, they stayed put till you nailed it. Never saw him afterwards and I meant to find out where he got them. Does anyone use these and where can I get them
