A friend just gave me a 4′ x 5′ slab of granite to serve as a platform/hearth for our wood stove. Problem is, this slab had been outdoors for many years, polished side down, set on concrete blocks, used as a table. Now the polished side (the side I want showing) is stained from the concrete blocks. We have tried many cleaners,(obviously the shine is not too important to us)such as comet, steel wool, even toilet bowl cleaner, but none of these things are working very well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

take it to the stone guy and have him polish (finish) the stainless side.
*lauri, Contact VMC tecnical assistance corporation in Dallas TX. Also on the web. Friendly and knowledgable. Good luck, Rick
*There is a cleaner/cleanser you might try called "Barkeeper's Friend" .....if I remember correctly, it contains oxalic acid, and was used by bartenders to remove stains from granite countertops.
