We recently sanded off paint (no lead) on my Aunt’s 100+ yr. old floor. We uncovered quartersawn straight grain fir I believe. There are numerous water stains that make certain parts off the floor appear 2 or 3 shades darker. My question is this ,if we stain the floor roughly 3 or 4 shades darker will the stains disappear or at least blend in with the overall floor better. And if so is a wood sealer recommended after the stain. I got plenty of experience installing and finishing new floors but want to get some comments before I proceed with this.
