The job I’m on has sandstone that will not be matching the interior colors. In fact the sandstone is a gray tone and contrasts terribly with the painted walls. We will need to seal the sandstone because it’s being used as the veneer for a fireplace and since it will need to be sealed and sealing would cause the gray to look green the question is ‘should it be strayed or have the material wiped on?’ If strayed should the equipment used be HVLP, conventional or airless?
I’m not familiar with the fact of the sealing of sandstone changing its color to green with staining. I’ve only been told this from an architect. If this is true then I’m afraid of it not changing to the color to which we attempt to have it if with just a sealer the stone would turn greenish. Any thoughts here too?
I’ve already checked the sites noted in an earlier post for concrete but that information doesn’t provide enough input.

Dale,
Although I've never stained sandstone or heard of it being done, I have a little experience with it as we have here some of the best quality in the world.
First it will be very absorbent so I'd go with spraying. Try a test piece on the back of one of the tiles.
Second , if possible go for a different sandstone, there are some magnificent colours available.
