Anyone have a photo of open stringer stairs that die into the wall going up? I’m looking for a good detail at the uppermost tread nosing return before the stairs change to closed tread on the next step.
While you’re at it, I’m in search of the perfect flashing detail where a roof ties into a sidewall. It’s that first piece of step flashing that dumps water onto the sidewall coming up around the soffit. Checked the archives and Google advanced search. Have many books. Built dozens of stairs and houses- never quite satisfied. Thanks Cal

Cal:
This is a poor angle for the detail you are wanting to look at. Anyway, I have a half newel on the wall that you are describing. I will see if I can find more pictures.
*Cal: Found another one.
*Stan- Real nice work. You've earned your badge. That first pic shows a half post dropping on the last step. Did you stop the wall skirt back from the return nosing and wrap your molding around and back into the wall?
*Cal: My skirtboard was cut with a vertical reveal of 1/4 inch on the wall corner. I have wrapped the wall like you mentioned with the skirtboard, but usually dont.
