Stan Foster asked me to build him a gyrocopter back in October. I finally got around to starting it.
Thought I might show in progress pictures.

This centuries-old paint offers vapor-permeabiity, maintainability, and longevity with zero VOCs, but know its limitations before you get to work.

Hey...that will be cool sitting alongside my other gyro models...
Looking forward to getting it. Just let me know how much.
Stan
Hope I can stay focused on it and get it done for you.
Doodabug: Hey.....are you interested in mass producing that? I have some friends who fly a SparrowHawk and I could probably keep you busy.
Let me know....I really appreciate you taking the time to do that little jewel.
Stan
I have considered it but am afraid it would take the hobby out of the hobby.
Stan, I was just a bit south of you yesterday. The company I work for is opening a branch in Champaign and I was over there all day.

Made some progress today.
Doodabug: I am freakin excited about that model. I see you rounded the cabin corners...the tail is on...it is looking great.
Thanks so much for that.
Stan
I worked on dash and seats today but didn't take pic.
Everything is just test fit right now.
The angled rods on rear wheels were a bear. Drilled 3 1/8 in. angled holes in a 1/4 in.by 3/8 piece.
Made a little more progress today. Seats and dash are in.
Hey Doodabug...looking fantastic.....wow....! whats that little jewel going to cost me? We need to talk.....

Made some more progress. Started on engine, radiator, props.
Doodabug: My return contribution is growing larger everyday. You are doing a fantastic job.
Stan
I thought I might get a comment on my curved handrail and balusters.
Laminated the handrail last night.
Thanks Dallas
Doodabug: I saw those.....and I thought I better just watch your pictures. Now whats going on? This is getting more interesting everyday.
Stan
Just trying to get the gyro use to stair parts before I send off to your world.
Could use some engine pics for detail.
Doodabug: Looking better all the time. Heres an engine picture. If you need a closer up one...I will go take one and send it.
Stan
Stan, You have trouble getting folks to ride in a craft that has "EXPERIMENTAL" posted right at the door???"uh thanx but no thanx, I'd rather not ride in the beta version":)I don't feel safe in this world no more I don't want to die in a nuclear war I want to sail away to a distant shore and make like an ape man
Mister T: Not at all. The experimental part makes it sound mire experimental than it is. It means I can change parts....try out new stuff...and since I am the pilot...I will be risking my neck.
I have flown experimental gyros since 1985 ...and have done many changes to them. Each change is thought out methodically...and I wouldnt fly it unless I was certain it was safe.
There are getting to be more and more of these out there flying....gyrocopters are the best kept secret in aviation.
Stan
I thought that was how he got out of buying licence for it.
It is done Stan. I hope it is OK for you.
Doodabug: I really appreciate the beautiful job you did on that. I will proudly display that on my fireplace.
I will e-mail my address....and the payment we talked about will be sent this weekend. Thanks
Stan
send grid coodinates and let it fly there on it's own...Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming<!----><!----><!---->

Doodabug: I received my gyrocopter model today. I am ecstatic about it! You even put on a freakin pre-rotator belt. I am sending $200 to that guy I was telling you about whos kid has cerebral pausy. Thanks so much. I will post a picture of it later...oh....I forgot...you even put in a curved windshield! The detail on it is excellent.
Stan
I am glad you like it and relieved that it shipped OK. Would enjoy a pic from you.
.Geez it's been a freakin weekwhy don't you give the man the pic he asked for.?.

Please lighten up a little.,...will ya? I bought a new camera and am trying to get my computer to except it. I dropped my camera the other day and it fell 12 feet to my concrete floor.
Stan
well I'm sorry to hear that, maybe you need to leave the camera alone with the computer, put on some soft music, dim the lights light some candles, burn some incense, open up a nice Cabernet .......
.

., wer ist jetzt der Idiot ?
What a gorgeous thing!
Lucky Stan!
Forrest
Thanks, I didn't get a very good picture. Can't see the windshield. Hope Stan sends a pic that shows it. Your stuff is pretty cool too.
.....:Hope Stan sends a pic that shows it."be careful Doodabug, he might tell you to lighten up too !.

Doodabug: I will post a picture of that beautiful model as soon as I get this new cameras program to jive with my computer. Your effort has gone to a good cause with my check helping that young boy get needed medical treatments for his cerebral pausy.
Maddog...I am saying this with a smile on my face...ok? but I seem to be getting a hard poke in the ribs for not posting a picture I cant post right now...then when I say,.,please lighten up...thats turned on me as well. I mean,...how would you react if I came out of the woodwork practically chastizing you out of the blue? I cant even say lighten up. I guess I will just have to lighten up and get out of here.
Stan
Doodbug: I got my picture posting problem fixed. Heres my beautiful model you so elequently made for me. I display it proudly on my wall. I had to boot my wifes vase off to make room. <G>
Once again, thanks so much. The family that I sent money to appreciated that very much. We all make this world a little bit better.
Stan
Stan, Looks good on that wall. Just hope DW doesn't give you a boot.
Thanks Dallas
Stan, it disappoints me that that shelf is not a spiral...
:)Wars of nations are fought to change maps.
But wars of poverty are fought to map change.
Needs a pedistal made to look like a spiral stair. I agree with ya.jt8

how much you charge for a curved rail???
we can't get an answer out of Stan...
I don't feel safe in this world no more I don't want to die in a nuclear war I want to sail away to a distant shore and make like an ape man
Mister T: Give me a rail that you need....tell me the radius...the species....and I will gladly tell you the price...<G>
Stan
I need 6 inches of 1/4"x3/8" georgian profile at a 4 inch radius in Jatobe with bubinga inlays and bocote accents...I don't feel safe in this world no more I don't want to die in a nuclear war I want to sail away to a distant shore and make like an ape man

More progress. Standing on it's own now. A few more details and done.
When ya gonna put in the loose nut behind the wheel???I don't feel safe in this world no more I don't want to die in a nuclear war I want to sail away to a distant shore and make like an ape man
Only one?
You probabably ought to build a little set of curved stairs to put behind the gyro, so it looks at home. :-)
I should do that then Stan will really freak out.
