I wish to use steel trusses and add a galvalume sheet metal roof to a 8 inch masonry wall here in FL. Have any of you used a similar system? I am forced to use block walls by zoning department or I would have simply bought a pre-fab metal building. All comments appreciated. Thanks, Warren
PS: Size 60 ft X 30 ft X 14 ft to eves with 4/12 roof.

What kind of info are you after? What kind of trusses to get? Whom to get them from? Brand of steel roofing to buy? Sources of steel? How to fasten them down in your county?
A little more info might get you some more answers...........

I wish to use steel trusses to fasten to the top bondbeam of an eight inch /reinforced masonry wall. I am in Orange County (Orlando) Fl and wind load requirements are 120 mph. How should I detail fastening the trusses to the masonary wall is one question ? How should gavalume sheetmetal be fastened to the purlins/ and or trusses (should there be clips between these members to allow for expansion, assuming that the screws with washers at each panel is a given to fasten the panel to whatever substrate) ? What sources are available for this kind of information? An architect said he thought all metal roofing should be fastened to 5/8 inch plywood with a felt slip sheet between the wood and metal? How should the insulation be applied for this type of roof? My intention was to use the double faced scrim type frequently used in mewtal "pole barns" ? Is that a good/ bad idea?
