The walls of my 75 year old stone foundation have crumbling mortar and paint falling onto the floor regularly. It makes for a messy and unsightly basement. We would like to fix them up somewhat. Can someone give me some ideas on how to go about doing this? The foundation is simply stacked stones with mortar of some sort in between and on the surface. I have considered just knocking the loose stuff off and repainting with something like Dry-Lok.
