We’ve received samples and given them the red-hot-cast-iron-pan treatment. It passed with flying colors. Anyone out there had experience with it?

Tina, What exactly is Stonite? I suspect that it similar to Corian or Wilsoite Gibralter. How expensive is it? I did some new cabinets for a client about a month ago that was getting Corian countertops. There was about 32' of countertop and it ran him around $4600.00 for Corian.
*Mad Dog -- Stonite is a composite of quartz and polymers of some sort. They're based in Minnesota, orignally developed in Italy. It comes in 5 foot lengths, as thick as you'd like, with all the qualities of granite, for instance, but with FLEX, which the stone surfaces don't have. It resembles stone in virtually every respect (where corian is all synthetic). I was looking for their website the other day and found http://www.technistone.com. Was in a hurry and couldn't take the time to see if it's the same outfit as produces Stonite. We love the samples we got -- virtually bulletproof and when we first looked into it was priced comparable to corian if not cheaper. The material can be used for floors (museums use it) or counters. As soon as I get organized enough to bring those materials up here to the barn where the computer is, I'll send along more info.
*Thanks for the web site Tina. Iwill check it out. sounds like an alternative to Solid Surface products. MDM.
