hate to say it, but why carry those….if i was a retail store, I’d rather get ten bucks for a new chalkline, at a 30% markup, than 25 cents for a new hook, at a 100% markup.
and bent nails do the replacement just fine π

How about extra red straws for the WD-40 cans?
*Booze?
*The powder-coated, orange-colored screws for fastening concrete backer board. Stronger and more waterproof than sheetrock screws and a better grip than roofing nails. had to drive 150 miles to Home Depot Anchorage to find them. (But the stores sell the backer board. How do they expect you to hang it, with the wrong fastener? Apparently.)West or System 3 epoxy - it's handy for so many things and it is a pain to go to the marine supply store.
*How about some decent lumber? Or, how about a complete install of one size chimney pipe and china cap? Or, maybe actually have the size nail you want. Or, a complete selection of Simpson's?By the way email the WD40 folks and they'll send a whole bag of straws. I did and they did.
*How about a bin full of all the same size screws? Is that too much to ask? Today I was walking down the aisle of horrors looking for the right size. Finally find what I'm looking for and it's all screwed up. Some didn't even have the screwhead. Where do they get these? I want the old yard back, this new shit of, "Nope, that's special order" is for the birds. And give me a clerk who knows the difference.
*Replace tapes for measureing tapes.
*hey Scooter they got replacement tapes at Sears hardware stores.
*Hey Scoot I don't know what your time is worth but I'd rather spend the $15 bucks on a new tape than try to reload one of those spring loaded contraptions.
*I always like it when the yard stocks the basics, like wood, nails , and saw blades. It is really hard to get the job done when they (run out?)"Sorry we can't get your deck built but the yard is out of 4x4 clear cedar posts."
*
If the Lumber yard carried booze, I would have no reason to leave.....grab a beer and play around with power tools all the live long day. How bout a cozy recliner where they can wheel all the new tools and gizmos by while I tip back a cold one.
*They don't make tapes with METAL cases anymore...I intend to keep fixing my old stanley for the life span of about 20 of the cheap plastic jobbies that I always use on the job. I wish I had gotten a 1" wide tape before they went to the plastic case...
*
Stubby; where you been? And where's lawrence? Canadian/American ratios been slipping.
*Oh but they do! Stanley makes a "Contractor Grade" tape with a metal case. It cost me $18 at San Diego hardware. I suppose you could special order one. I agree that the metal case is better. Mine lasted for 20 years with a couple of new tapes inside. (Bought a plastic one, took the tape out and put it in the old metal case.) I wish the bean counters would stop trying to redesign provenly good tools. This new tape is painted yellow case and doesn't have the red foot markings but I'm smart enough to know that 96" is 8'. Amd it also reads down to .02".

hey, about the extra tubes for WD-40---
you can get a box full of'em, or go hit the bar, and as a bonus, they're free
standard swizzle sticks for mixing drinks are the same diameter within a couple of 1000th's, and work fine.

I agree, Pro-Dek. It's really annoying when they run out of stuff like studs, 16D sinkers, or plywood.
*Fred,HowIdo ?I pored over the wd-40 website and the only thing I found was a way to ask for an IR kit. Includes a couple of rags, but no straws. No e-mail address anywhere that I could find...
*Gee I just looked in my address book and it is gone. Must have done a dumb-dumb. Let me do a bit of research and I'll post in the next couple days.Ok?
*S2... I'll drink to that. One of my window companies just sent me an invite to an open house for their new showroom..free beer, barbeque, and Braves tickets.Just when I was thinking about going back to the computer biz.Bill
*LUKA:Couldn't find my old notes and my address book got flushed some time ago. Finally, I found time to re-visit their site. It Has Changed. They don't put their email address there any more. Best thing I can say is to send them a letter. In case you didn't copy their USPS address: WD-40 Company, 1061 Cudahy Place, San Diego, CA 92110

just some thought that I think lumber yards should carry such as
ends for string lines I have three but none have hooks where they went I don't know.
caps for glue bottles same thing I just can't find them.
