sun tubes – long run OK?

I’m looking at installing a Solatube sun tube in a first floor ceiling that is 12′ down from roof above. Anyone think this would be too long to get the benefit of the product?

Do you think Solatube is that much brighter than Velux’s Sun Tunnel?
