Sounds good - the only advice I can offer is a warning re the spacing, and particularly the fact that the rail will be climbable...this would conflict with codes (possibly).
All the best...
To those who know - this may be obvious. To those who don't - I hope I've helped.
Here's one we built a few years ago. We did use a jig (simply a 1 x 1 with a screw at the focal point (where the sunburst would meet at the deck level) and "click in" radius points. We shot the radials on one half, then trimmed the ends, screwed, then applied other half.
Having the focal point be below the railing at deck level keeps the converging area from being so congested.
Fonzie, I've always thought sunburst rails were butt ugly but those have changed my mind. Thanks for the tip on the center of the radius, makes a huge difference. Nice job.Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Some of those spaces look like about 6" between them. Does that meet code in your area? Around here 4"is max. BTY, they do look great.
Headstrong, I'll take on anyone!
Thanks, and no, I doubt it. But this was done during the '90's administration. Big discrepancies went unnoticed.
I thought code said less than 4". Something about a 4" sphere not being able to pass through.
That's right. If a 4" sphere can fit through you lose.

wow fonzie...that is a beautiful deck...and yeah, i agree it looks better than a traditional sunburt....
