I’ll be building a new deck this summer for one of my best customers.
She has requested teak decking. Since I have never worked with teak before. Any tips would be welcome. I was considering using those plastic biscuits to eliminate screws or nails through the decking. Anyone tried them? Any recommendations for sources of teak in eastern Mass or southern New Hampshire.

Do a search on EB-TY in the advanced search, you should come up with something on the fastening system it has been discussed a few times recently.
Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, Professional build the Titanic.
Well, the dust is some nasty, don't breathe it or get it on you. It also requires pre-drilling. Other than that, it is just wood, (just wood that will cost you about $15 brd ft).
Any lumber yard should be able to order it for you, or you could try Rex Lumber, in Acton, Ma.
Teak is loaded with silica, which is a fancy way of saying sand, which tends to dull your tools very quickly. Sharpen early, sharpen often. Also, if you need to glue the stuff together for whatever reason, it contains natural oils that need to be wiped with acetone prior to applying the glue (which should be resorcinol for outdoors.)
And don't bother bringing your wallet to the lumber yard, just pick up your banker on the way there.
everything jibes with my experience of teak.. very expensive. think Ipe" as a substitute if she balks at the material cost..
add to your labor for degree of difficulty... also.. teak will PROBABLY NOT come thru in a decking profile ( no eased edges, usually not S4S ) so you have to consider prepping it before you can install itMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
