Hello All,
I have a plumbing question that’s really got me stumped. For background, a few months ago, we had copper pipes installed throughout the house to replace our old galvanized pipes, except for those in one shower, because they had been replaced in 2004. For a couple of months, the system was all fine. Then a few weeks ago, there would be a noise coming from under the house every time we turned on a faucet or at the end of the fill cycle of the toilet flush. Now, every time we turn on a faucet, or run the washing machine or dishwasher, water comes spurting out of the shower AND we have the noise. BUT when no water is being used anywhere in the house, the shower doesn’t leak or drip; it’s fine. The valve had been replaced in that shower, too, in 2004; it’s a JADO Pressure Balance Shower Set with a Tempress II Integral Diverter Valve. Any suggestions on what this problem is and how to fix it?
Thanks very much,
Currant

Thanks for the link.
As far as the noise, did your plumber make his own water arrestors or did he use the flluid filled ones?
If he made his own (not to code anymore) they may have filled up with water already. Losing the air gap would possibly create the banging you are talking about.
The plumber hadn't made his own arrestors.
He just now removed part of a pipe and secured it, and the noise is gone.
He changed the shower valve, too, and the drip & spurt has ceased when the dishwasher or washing machine or other faucets are turned on.
The problem has been that we have had over a dozen service calls on these 2 problems, and different people were sent out every time and opinions on the cause/solution varied, it wasn't getting taken care of, but it looks like it's fixed now.
Thanks for the help.
