Lite-Rock Drywall Corporation of Kingsman, Arizona wwill soon introduce it brand of drywall called “Lite-Rock.”
Because some of the gypsum is replaced with perlite–an insulation–the Lite-Rock board is lighter and stronger. Less gypsum also means less dust. GeneL.

Gene: When you get more info, please keep us posted.
*Gene,What a preposterous claim. Lite-Rock? How can rock be lite? Next thing you'll be claiming they have lite beer. This is just another attempt to sell something. If we examine this carefully we can see right through these claims. You say this stuff is allegedly lighter. Well if that is so, then it is only you doing the alleging. Therefore, you are the alLEGER of these claims. Now that's easy enough to see through. Alleged Lite Rock = an alleger = a Leger. So, you can't deny that you have an interest in the stuff.Babe
*Dear Babe,I'll take my appointed role as sidekick and defend Gene's outrageous claims!! I read about it in a magazine article. Gene may have written the article - I didn't look. There is nothing new about gypsum and perlite, they have existed for thousands of years before Gene came along!!8-)-Rob
*God Bless Babe for protecting us all from the bad guys! We'd be lost without him (her?).Steve
*Babe, Considering that I'm not Hercules, I was surprised to be able to pickup pumice rock. Its so lite that is seems it could float in water. The material on Lite-Rock was taken from the August 1999 issue of _Walls_&_Ceilings,_ page 34-38. You may be able to read the article on their web page http://www.wconline.com. I'll keep Breaktome posters updated as I receive newer information. GeneL.
*Yea, sure. The Romans invented concrete, but that doesn't mean you can make boats out of it.
*Hey. Guess What!!!!!
*Next thing you know, Gene will say the best way to insulate that boat would be with sprayed PUR.Personally, I think Poly, fiberglass and vent chutes would be better. All you have to do is gun some PT sleepers to the outside walls and seal the heads of the pins with caulk. The vent chutes will allow for drainage away from the fg in case the caulk leaks. This is the only reliable way to do this.I bet that cocncrete is reinforced with fiberglass!-Rob
*Mike. Thanks for the picture. The Romans may have perfected concrete but they didn't invent it. Excavations in Jericho unearthed concrete floors that date back to 7000 BCE. The nearly 2-1/2 million limestone blocks in the Great Pyramid of Giza were mortared with cement. There are WWII veterans who will tell you of the cement boats in the South Pacific. Amd in recent times Those in the know know all about the concrete canoe races. GeneL.
*Rob. fiberglass will not hold up in the alkaline environment of concrete. The vent chutes-propervent- now becomes the first condensing surface. That spell trouble. The practice of running the vent chute continuously from eaves to ridge has and will cause moisture problems. Reports from Florida and Texas report moisture probles when chutes are used continuously.GeneL.
*Yeah right, it looks real slick sitting in the driveway, held up by all those sticks. . . notice the front part is missing from the pic. . he's hidin somethin', probably just a cheesey hamburger stand under construction. . .i Titanic Burgers.A picture hides a thousand lies eh Babe???
*Sometimes you guys show a remarkable lack of credibility as you argue with some cowardly figment of FreddyL's imagination. Ignore this piece of garbage and it will go away.By the way Mike, a buddy of mine sailed down the St.Lawrence river in a craft made out of concrete as well. A fellow built it from plans in Toronto, sailed it to Nova Scotia. Gabe
