Muriatic acid.
White vinegar will remove a light stain (acetic acid).
Or any number of commercial toilet bowl cleaners - all that claim rust stain removal contain an acid of one type or another.

Something with oxalic acid in it.
However, iron stains are, at best, very difficult to remove.
CLR used to work quite well when we lived in the country 20 yrs ago.

Pumice. You can buy blocks of it for removing mineral and rust buildup.
Work great.
Be sure you don't mix any chemicals together. If you have a dispenser in the tank, remove it and flush a few times before using acid in the bowl. Acid and bleach, in particular, react to form poisonous gas.
Put a little galvanized in your chow, and if that doesn't work try stainless.

Iron Out made by works pretty well. It's a powder that you put into the bowl.
First cut back on your iron supplements.
CLR has worked great for me. Most any hardware store should carry it.
A sledgehammer, and a trip to Lowes
Whink Rust Stain Remover. Worked when everything else failed.
Thanks to all. I have another toilet in sitting in the waiting but being a rental with nothing else wrong with the stool I'd much prefer to swab the deck and go on as there are greater waves to fight.
