Going to be doing some work on my bathroom in the upcoming weeks, including replacing some (I assume) rotten floor under my toilet.
I just came to the realization yesterday that the toilet has four closet bolts, but that every other toilet I’ve seen only has 2 holding it to the flange.
I’m assuming that this has something to do witht the age of the toilet? But now I’m wondering what is under there. Is the toilet screwed to the floor instead of the flange? Will I need to put a new flange on if I want to replace the toilet?
Any information would be appreciated so that I’m going into this with some idea as to what to expect.

Yup, screwed right to the floor.
Common practice with 4 bolt toilets.
You only need to replace the flange if it's broke. Kinda hard to guess if you need to or not until you pull thetoilet.
Yeah, two bolts through the flange and two more that have wood threads on the other end and are screwed right into the floor. Actually reduces the likelihood of a broken flange, etc, though the likely age means the flange is probably cast iron and really brittle.
