I’ve inheirited a 7 1/4 Rockwell circular saw which seems identical to the current Porter Cable model except the amperage is a little lower than today’s model (11 amps). This is the saw which adjusts for depth of cut by sliding the motor and blade up or down on metal dovetail rather than rotating up or down at a single pivot point.
Everything is metal. The only plastic is motor end cap. Grease cup for the gears. But it’s been in a damp garage for years and the steel parts are pretty rusty.
Is it worth the time to really clean up and care for? Are there any particular advantages to this type of saw? I assume somebody prefers them since PC still makes them.
