We’re remodeling our kitchen. Someone gave us a good quality top mount stainless sink, but we would prefer an undermount. What are the drawbacks to installing the top mount as an undermount? Our countertop will be a solid surface–Fireslate. Can’t we just clip the sink underneath, screw the sink up into the fireslate, and use caulk to seal it? What are we missing that really differentiates a top mount from an undermount?
