Why couldn’t I take torchdown gutter, which is lined with the usual paper and tar and silver topping, rip it out to the wood sheathing, and then have a gutter man with a break roll me out a long aluminum piece to slide under the shingles and line the valley? The fascia acts to catch the water but in fact just gets soaked when the water from the roof hits it and shoots up under the cap trim on top. Seems to me the aluminum is permanent, less likely to catch debris and could be sealed well enough at the scuppers where you need a hole. Ideas?
