For a dining room remodel, I’ve been asked to add a roomful of craftsman style detailing, wainscoting, plate rail, door and window casing, cabinetry, etc. They want to keep the existing standard, paint grade set of 4 exterior french doors, single lite. I don’t do faux – company motto – but am tempted to sand the paint a bit on these doors and try adding mahogany veneer to the interior to match the new woodwork in the room. To the ogee moulding of the doors and the small portion of exposed jamb may get a layer of paint that matches the mahogany (and hopefully will blend well). Any thoughts on whether this proposed transformation would work or hints? Unfortunately, new stain grade doors are not in the budget.

Q can You apply real mahogany over the ogee fill in where there would be gaps and then add the veneeer or using a square bit in a router square up the ogee and start over with mahogany ogee? Cheapest fastest way would be to paint the ogee and veneer rest. Skip
