Trimmers for windows

| Posted in General Discussion on May 3, 2002 08:22am

I am about ready to begin framing a one stroy garrage that will have a few slider windows, 3′ wide by 2′ high.  Many of the books show a separate trimmer for the header, and an option of using a trimmer for the sill or not.  One source shows the trimmer cut midway to hold the sill and then the header.

Opinions, please.

I personally use a full height trimmer for the header, and carry my 16's for my cripple studs under the sill. This is fine with my inspector, I don't know about yours.

Yeah..go with the full trimmer. To hell with what the inspector thinks!

    Either way works fine.
