I need to add a new window to my old house and would like it to match the existing ones which are single pane, true divided light. Any of the national manufacturers make Double Hung, single pane, true didvided light wood window? If no majors make these, I imagine some smaller, custom places may?

Marvin will make any window to order, and I imagine the other majors will, as well. Bring a fat checkbook.
*Marvin also stocks "semi-custom" sash in 2-4" increments -- far cheaper than asking for an odd custom size. Ask them for a single glazed "authentic divided lite" double hung. You can also order custom muntins, the little dividers (Queen Anne, for example). It was kind of fun -- I faxed a sketch of what I wanted and they made it for us, no extra charge. Average semi-custom window $300-$400.Anyone know why the panes are called "lites"?
*Jim,Midwest Architectural will make anything you want for not too much money. They also make a nice wood storm/screen combo.Steve
*Jim, what area of the country are you located in?Perhaps we could then send you on to a smaller local company. In the Northeast, BROSCO makes both the "New York" and "Boston" series of wood windows, with single, two, four, six, and eight lite variations according to size/style.Andrew: Light=lite=pane {as in 6 panel door with 5 lites above} (known as door lites,) yet they are not lamps=lanterns=lights.

Thanks all for your input!
George, I live in NE Ohio (but actually am a native New Englander). Have heard of Brosco before but don't know if they distribute out here (?). Maybe Midwest Arch is the way to go. I notice neither has a website so any Phone numbers will be appreciated. Thanks again.

Can a local woodshop help you out? If not I heartily recommend Marvin.
*Hi Jim,Midwest Architectural Wood Products, Ltd.300 Trails Road,Eldridge, IA 52748(319) 285-8000Steve
*Jim,While I prefer the Marvin, you might also look at the dreaded Pella window. Gunton Corp is the regional distributer.I think Norco also offers this option. If value is a consideration (not price) I would look at the norco first.
