Hello just a minor distress call:
I put Behr Scandinavian Tung Oil on my new hardwood floor, 3 coats so far, but the Missus has already decided she is going to want more “Shine” so I bought some oil based poly (Behr) to top coat.
Question is how long should I let the tung oil dry/cure or can I top coat right away? How many coats of the poly would you recommend? Just a couple old folks doin’ the soft shoe shuffle here:-)
BTW Happy New Year !!

Is what you are doing:
putting "regular" floor varnish over tung oil to get more shine?
will it adhere?
Yes , I have heard it can be done I'm just not sure how to go about it/
Thanks for your concern. It's not what you chew, it's how you chew it
Since the tung cures by oxygen, in my unbderstanding, be absolutely sure it has finished before sealing it up with top coats or it will always remain soft. I'm thinking thirty days.
There're more guys over at Knots that understand finishes so you might want to post this there.

Thanks for the quick reply , letting it cure completely does sound like the sensible thing to do and 30 days is not a problem - still lots of other renovations to do.
