Hi folks,
I’m working with some birdseye maple and would like to put a finish on it that will keep it looking white and new permanently. I think I recall from long ago some advice to use a UV blocking clear coat. Does that make sense and can anyone recommend a product?
Thanks in advance!

Depending on what the final use of the "project" is, try http://www.stewmac.com a luthiers supply..they some excellent solvent and water based coatings for stringed instruments that often have exotic woods that need to stay looking that way.
Hydro-coate used to make a product called "polyshield" I don't know if it is still available or not...it was good stuff but pricey.

Also, some of your waterbased polys have uv blockers, and they wont yellow the wood.
In addition, good art supply stores carry tons of products like this. You can even get it in a spray bomb if you want.
Thanks Sphere and Zendo! I appreciate the leads! The application I'm planning is to for fishing lures. I have some extra birdseye and want to make some poppers that retain the white color. I plan to topcoat over the UAV protector with Devcon 2 ton clear epoxy.
