I’m building a house, and I’ve run into fierce debates regarding the pros and cons of installing vapor barrier on the ceiling before the sheetrock goes on. Cons–they trap moistures and cause failures of taped seams. Pros–Keeps the insulation above dry. What do you say? Rick

*At Habitat for Humanity - at least here in Lansing, MI - we paint the textured ceiling with latex semi-gloss paint. Our inspectors approve this as a vapor barrier and ask for nothing more. I've been up in the attics of a couple of houses using above method and there appears to be no problems. Hope this helps.DM
*Richard,The debate rages everywhere. The one certainty is that air movement is more important. The amount of moisture defusing through the dry wall is minor compared to the volume of moisture traveling with the air leaking through the openings in your ceiling.Chase
