I am going to heat my new barn(24x45x16H), and have gotten a used Renzor unit heater. It’s is 225,000 BTU unit with an 8 inch output vent.
It,s a bit oversized calculations show I only needed about 150,000 but the
price was right.
Can I vent it just out the side of the building?? This is how my garage heater is done. Or do I need to go up vertical above the roof line?
If I have to go vertically, is it possible to combine it with a chimney for a wood stove. I will probably used wood primarily and the unit heater for quick heat.
While I am asking questions any one know of any good sources for the pipe I’ll need??
Thanks.

No
There are specific rules for venting appliances. Find 'em and follow 'em.
"If I have to go vertically, is it possible to combine it with a chimney for a wood stove"
Even if the price was right, pay a knowledgeable HVAC tech to install the thing. You're fooling around with potentially deadly stuff. Cousin Freddy, who didn't spend his whole school career (all 9 grades) in the special ed unit and who lived almost next door to that guy who used to load trucks for that company down the street from the heating company might not know everything he needs to know to do a safe installation.
Quick test when hiring an installer: "How do you adjust the furnace flame?" If the answer is "blue flame = good;" pass; if the answer is "combustion analyzer", you've got a candidate.
No. Can't mix wood burning appliance and gas/oil burning appliance flues. Bad joss.
